THE PETREL STATION TRIP REPORT

Had a great day out on our 'Nearly World Albatross Day' pelagic seabird tour to The Petrel Station, offshore from Tutukaka (in Northland, New Zealand). Conditions on the day were mostly fine, with a 10-15 knot wind and a 1m swell. We had planned to go on 19.06 which is the official World Albatross Day but the forecasts meant we had to run the tour earlier.

During the tour we recorded 17 different seabird species including 4 albatross/mollymawk species See below for the full list of seabirds recorded on the tour.

If you’re interested in coming out on a pelagic seabird tour to The Petrel Station then check out the upcoming tour dates and get in touch – it’s always a great day out. There’s still a few winter tours (with the southern seabirds coming our way) and the madness of the spring seabird season isn’t too far away (with tours starting to fill up already).
