THE PETREL STATION TRIP REPORT

ad another great day out on the latest pelagic seabird tour to The Petrel Station, offshore from Tutukaka (in Northland, New Zealand).

Highlights of the tour were:

  • The first Grey Noddy arrived for the spring/summer season

  • Heaps of Cook's Petrel swirling around was spectacular

  • The NZ Stormies put on a great show in very close to the boat

During the tour we recorded 24 different seabird species, and enjoyed watching just short of 7,000 stunning seabirds in total! Conditions on the day were mostly overcast, with 12-15 knot winds and a 1.5m swell. See below for the full list of seabirds recorded on the tour.
