THE PETREL STATION TRIP REPORT
Had a great day out at The Petrel Station on our latest pelagic seabird trip out of Tutukaka (in northern New Zealand). A good 10-15 knot wind throughout the day provided great viewing of a variety of stunning seabirds.
Highlights of the trip were:
1 White-headed Petrel
1 Black-belied Storm Petrel
13 New Zealand Storm petrels
Big boils ups of thousands of Buller’s Shearwaters, Fairy Prion, and gulls following the feeding Trevally around.
During the trip we saw 26 different seabird species, and nearly 10,000 seabirds in total! A fantastic day out.
If you’re interested in coming out to The Petrel Station then check out the upcoming trip dates and get in touch – it’s always a great day out.
